• Student Poll Worker Program - The Supervisor of Elections teamed up with the School Board in 2002 to provide an opportunity for high school students to participate more actively in the electoral process. Since September 2002, hundreds of Sarasota high school and college students have been trained and have worked at the polls. Students may receive community service hours for training and are paid for working on election day.
  
• Special Needs Program - A Special Needs Program was established by Supervisor of Elections Kathy Dent in 2001 to encourage citizens of our county who have special needs to exercise their right to vote, and to help make the process friendlier for them.
